In 2017 BIO participated together with IFC, FMO, Bamboo and BCIE in a pro rata capital increase of Lps. 17.265 million (approx. USD 735 k) in Banco Popular.

The capital increase request followed a requirement of the Honduran Banking Commission that decided to increase the amount of minimal capital for financial institutions from USD 17 M to USD 21 M.
