In 2015 BIO participated together with IFC, FMO, Bamboo and BCIE in a pro rata capital increase of Lps. 29.500.000 (USD 1.5 Mio) in Banco Popular.
The capital increase request followed a requirement of the Honduran Banking Commission that decided to increase the amount of minimal capital for financial institutions from Lps 300.000.000 (USD 15Mio) to Lps. 400.000.000 (USD 20 Mio) as from May 2015.
