The ACEP network (Agency for Private Enterprise Credit) was initiated in 1989 in Senegal, and has successfully developed to Madagascar, Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Niger.
The creation of the ACEP Group aims to enable microfinance institutions active in French-speaking Africa (Madagascar, Burkina Faso, Niger and Cameroon) to benefit from the synergies specific to a network, mainly in the following areas: (i) development of the product range (in particular mobile banking), (ii) support in operational and financial management (iii) optimization in resource mobilization.

Local economic growth
BIO's investment is focused at the group level to increase capacities at the national level. Also 2 new institutions dedicated to SME financing are to be created in Togo (2016) and Ivory Coast (2017), two countries where financial inclusion is at its lowest.
ACEP currently offering loans to 6,544 SMES and 52,500 micro entrepreneurs and savings products to 33,000 clients.

Private sector consolidation/innovation
With the enabling of an official group, the independent financial institutions dedicated to SME financing can benefit from network synergies and develop their capacities regarding:
Common risk management pooling of financial resources;
new product development;
cost synergies;
development of a common monitoring of social performance.The goal of the group is to promote the emergence of local talents by knowledge transfer and capacity building
New products and lending methodologies in the financial market place (expansion of health insurance program already developed in Madagascar and mobile banking)
Expansion in rural areas with dedicated products in Cameroon and Madagascar.
