Activity
Microfinance Institution
The microfinance activities of AMPL have started through a local NGO, People’s Forum, in the early 90’s. The company is focused on giving women micro-entrepreneurs in rural, tribal and sub-urban areas access to micro loans. A vast majority of AMPL’s branches are operating in deep rural areas where competition is almost absent. The lending methodology is through Self Help Groups (SHG) consisting of 8 to 20 women who have been saving together for at least 6 months and who have received training from the Company. AMPL offers capacity training to its clients covering different topics.
Next to giving microfinance loans, AMPL gives business development services and has developed special financial products catering to very specific needs of their target clients, such as water and sanitation loans.
