AMPL is primarily engaged in the business of lending to individual women borrowers under self-help groups (SHG) model, where groups of 8-20 women members save together and receive loans for their entrepreneurial activities. AMPL is promoted by People’s Forum (PF), a well-known, reputable local entity which has been working towards socio-economic development since 1990.

BIO's investment will support growth of AMPL's micro finance portfolio, which will translate directly into increased provision of and access to financial services for clients who have successfully leveraged the services and setup micro enterprises in rural and semi urban areas.

The investment's primary objective is to reach out to clients in rural and semi-urban areas. SHG loans support agricultural, production/craft and services/trade activities. Rural development is also supported by provision of water & sanitation loans, solar powered lighting system for rural households, education loan etc.

AMPL’s mission is empowerment of women, by providing financial services to women entrepreneurs and therefore creating economic opportunities for them. Women are vast majority of AMPL’s clients as the SHG loans are provided solely to women. Among its non-financial activities, AMPL provides trainings on gender sensitization.
