The MFI employees ≈4140 people, with women representing over 50% of the workforce and close to 100% of their borrowers. It is the largest provider of microfinance for women and micro-insurance in Pakistan. BIO agreed to provide Kashf with a 10M USD loan in June 2022 and is currently looking for providing a follow on investment of 15M USD loan.
Technical assistance
Kashf Foundation’s Chief Risk Officer, Ms. Shahla Sattar, is enrolled in the CRO Circle 2025 Program, a specialized training for CROs of banks and microfinance institutions organized by Inspiring Development. The program aims to strengthen business‑minded risk management by enhancing her personal and technical leadership and developing a smart, forward‑looking risk management function. It covers core risk areas—market, credit, and operational risk—while offering peer learning and insights into emerging trends, including ESG.
A key expected impact for Kashf is support for developing and implementing a climate‑risk‑focused policy and framework, which is critical given Pakistan’s increasing climate vulnerability and Kashf’s commitment to climate‑responsive financial products. The program also advances gender equality and financial inclusion by supporting a female senior leader in a region where such training opportunities are limited.
