Activity
JTF Madagascar is a Malagasy company created in 2010 and which is involved in the production of maize, soya and Geranium Bourbon for essential oil. The company is a subsidiary of Tozzi Green SpA, an Italian group focused on renewable energy.
In the framework of BIO's loan to JTF Madagascar, a technical assistance subsidy was granted to the company in order to improve and institutionalize their community dialogue and land use policy and to better assess the development impact of its operations.
The proposed consultancy expertise includes the following components:
- Socio-economic baseline study to complete gaps in the Environmental Impact Assessment, develop a monitoring plan to assess long term development impacts and inform JTF’s future land acquisition decisions accordingly ;
- Development of an E&S Management System (ESMS) (e.g. consultation database, grievance mechanism) with selected management plans, tools and the associated electronic databases;
- Training the staff on best E&S practices, and implementation of the newly developed procedures (ESMS).
The objective of this technical assistance is to support the institutionalization and upgrade of their current practices thereby meeting international standards and best industry practices in social and community management.
