Advans Côte d'Ivoire (ACI) is a microfinance institution licensed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire which was created in 2009 and started operations in 2012. THE MFI provides products and financial services to MSME in urban and rural areas.

The MFI is part of the Advans Group, a DFI-led group whose mission is to respond to the needs for financial services of MSMEs and other underserved populations.

Development impacts

    Support local economic growth through deposits & loans to (M)SMEs, whom are key drivers for local economic activity, job creation and poverty alleviation (from 55k MSME clients Dec 2016 to over 137k clients in 2020).

  • Private sector consolidation/innovation

    Improved credit processes allowing to focus on riskier informal MSMEs and to support increasing formalization (business registration).

    ACI offers digital savings, payment solutions and digital loans to its customers, allowing to increase its outreach towards agri producers and urban micro entrepreneurs.

    Support consolidation of the microfinance industry in the country.

  • Financial inclusion

    With the opening of new branches and development of digital products, ACI plans to reach more clients in rural and urban areas

    Respond to the need of underserved populations by creating tailor-made products and services for each customer segment.

    ACI is mainly financing micro enterprises and SMEs active in the informal economy, with a growing agri and rural focus through digital products.

  • Promotion of ESG best practices

    Advans Group endorses the Client Protection Principles and performed an SPI4 audit at Advans CI in 2018 which is currently being updated/upgraded. The institution ambitions to finalize the setting up an Environmental and Social Management System by the end of 2021.

  • Gender

    A third of ACI’s current clients is female, as well as over 50% of ACI’s employees and half of key management.

    Eligible in 3 criteria for the 2x challenge – leadership, employment and consumption – and actions envisaged to improve capacity of women managers.
