Société Générale d’Hôtellerie (SGH) is Mali’s main hotel company and a subsidiary of the West African group Azalaï Hôtels. Azalaï Group was set up in 1994 by Mr. Mossadeck Bally and is now the leading African hotel chain in the WAEMU, with its 8 hotels with a total capacity of over 700 rooms, in 5 WAEMU countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau and Mali).
BIO’s financing will allow Azalaï to refurbish its most prestigious hotel, Le Salam (5*), and build a 3* hotel nearby with 100 rooms and comprising a conference center. This project will develop and improve hotel services in Bamako, which currently fall short of increasing demand from regional business clients.
This operation will support the development of hotel services in Mali’s capital. It will create temporary jobs on the refurbishment and construction sites and permanent jobs in the new hotel. It will also contribute to boosting the local economy by the local sourcing of SGH’s supplies or food products. In addition, it will contribute to creating an attractive business environment for regional and international investments.
