• BIO to support Bolivian microfinance institution CIDRE

  • BIO and CIDRE have agreed upon a Credit Facility Agreement amounting to USD 1.5 million. With the provision of this loan, BIO will enable a rural microfinance institution in Bolivia to expand its operations and reinforce its support to micro- and small enterprises. It will improve access to finance for unbanked rural entrepreneurs, while stimulating economic growth and generating jobs.

    Banco LAFISE Bancentro, who is a beneficiary of a loan facility from BIO, initiated in 2009 an education program in Nicaragua called “One Laptop per Child”. The project aims to contribute to a sustainable and qualitative education by increasing access to the digital world for students.

    BIO has committed USD 4 million in equity in CoreCo Central America Fund I, an SME-focused private equity fund engaged in corporate investments in Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama) and the Dominican Republic. The Fund is managed by CoreCo Management, Inc.
