The Board of Directors of the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries (BIO S.A. / N.V.) has appointed Luuk Zonneveld as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 December 2012.
Luuk Zonneveld has gained a substantial experience in development, more specifically in the promotion and financing of the private sector.
Since 2008, he is Managing Director of the non-profit organisation Vredeseilanden. Previously, he was one of the architects of the success of Fairtrade labeling, as Managing director of its global umbrella Fairtrade International in Bonn, from 2001 to 2007.
After graduating in Psychology, Sociology and Economics in France and the Netherlands, he started his career as a journalist. Later he held various positions within NGOs and organisations active in North-South Cooperation, such as Oxfam and Fairtrade. Luuk is fluent in English, Spanish, German, French and Dutch.

The appointment of Luuk Zonneveld has been approved by BIO’s Board of Directors following a public rigorous and transparent recruitment procedure. He will take up his new position at BIO on 1 December 2012.
