SCL Subsidy

Print

BIO subsidized two technical assistance projects for Société des Cultures Légumières S.A. (SCL). The main activity of the company is the production, conditioning and export of fresh vegetables for the UK market, during the European & Northern African counter season, to benefit from higher prices due to a lower supply relative to consumer demand.

The first technical assistance project was signed in 2010 and completed by 2012. It provided training in production techniques for asparagus and other vegetables, as well as traing for the personnel in charge of the "quality" department.

The second technical assistance was signed in 2010. An expert of the UNiversity of Cranfield (UK) asessed the company on irrigation techniques and water management.

BIO invested in 2007 and 2008 in SCL to finance the acquisition of start-up material. In 2013, a new loan agreement was signed to finance the expansion of the company. Read more on BIO's investment in SCL.
