Clean Foods

Clean Foods is a project that acquires and sets up a new extraction unit for the production of palm oil dedicated to the agro industrial industry and Cameroon’s households consumption. The project entails the expansion of the current palm tree production area of 620 ha to 1000 ha (expansion will replace former cocoa plantations).

BIO’s investment supports the acquisition and installation of the new oil mill with a capacity of 5 to 7 tons/h. BIO’s loan of 1 million EUR is extended in local currency, granted over 6 years with a grace period of 24 months. Local commercial banks do not offer such conditions and often apply very high interest rates.

The project has important economic and social impacts: as it creates local jobs with a multiplier effect on the households in the region, it will actively contribute to reduce poverty and rural flight in the area. Clean Foods’ palm oil plantations are environmental-friendly since they use local manpower and only herbicides. Fruit bunches waste will be used as fertilizers in the field and the waste from the extraction will be used to generate gas for the nuts sterilization.
