Enabel, the Belgian Development Agency, invites you to attend the ‘Hack the Goals’ closing event on Friday 16 November. The event will be held in the beautiful Ateliers des Tanneurs in Brussels’ city centre.

'Hack the Goals' is a series of six hackathons set up in Senegal, Niger, Palestinian territories, Morocco and Uganda. These hackathons bring together developers and citizens to elaborate innovative solutions to address development issues under the international community’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
With the hackathons we demonstrate that one does not have to be a digital expert to come up with relevant digital solutions. Also citizens can play an important role in this approach and actively contribute to solutions that are valuable to them on a daily basis. You can find more information on the nominated design concepts from the end of October onwards on the website: hackthegoals.be

On 16 November the finalists of the international hackathon contest convene in Brussels for the international ‘Hack the Goals’ closing event during which the winning hackaton team will be awarded a 5.000 euro prize. Enabel is pleased to invite you to this evening event with an interesting panel discussion on: ‘Digital for Development: an accelerator for the Sustainable Development Goals or an expensive trend?’ During the event you can personally meet with the winning teams from participating countries and have a closer look at their design concepts.
Minister of Development Cooperation and Digital Agenda, Alexander De Croo will share his vision on the opportunities offered by digital technologies in his keynote speech.
In addition, Isaya Yunge, a digital entrepreneur who is on the 2018 Forbes Africa’s 30 under 30 young change-makers list, will share his views on the digital revolution in Africa.
The Wehubit programme, which supports digital initiatives in Belgium’s partner countries and is implemented by Enabel in partnership with BIO will announce its first selected projects as well as the topic of the second call for proposals.
The evening ends with a walking dinner and live music.

You can find the programme here.
